Having a healthy body image means accepting and appreciating your body and feeling satisfied with your appearance, as well as being grateful for its qualities and capabilities. Learning to love and respect your body is such an important part of personal development and is a major contributor to self-esteem. Once you connect to this inner confidence, while also letting go of unrealistic standards/expectations for what you think your body should look like, you can break free from not feeling (thin, beautiful, young, firm!) enough and create a sense of self that you can truly feel proud of.
In addition to serving as a body image expert in the media, Dr. Lyndsay also consults with parents on how to develop a healthy self-image in their children, utilizing practical advice and tips to help empower your child. She believes that parents should be aware of environmental influences and start instilling confidence in their children from an early age in hopes of protecting against future disordered eating issues.
